Overview
Mi Casita Poblana is a beloved spot nestled at 4300 E Cesar E Chavez Ave, East Los Angeles, CA 90022, offering a truly authentic taste of Puebla, Mexico. Whether you're a long-time resident of East LA or just passing through, this quaint diner has earned its reputation for serving some of the best Mexican food in the area. The moment you step through the door, you're greeted with the rich aromas of sizzling meats, fresh tortillas, and the unmistakable warmth of Mexican hospitality.
One of the standout features of Mi Casita Poblana is its menu. It’s not just a typical Mexican diner. The menu is packed with flavors that transport you straight to the heart of Puebla. From hearty molé poblano to tender carnitas, each dish is made with love and the freshest ingredients. I had the chance to try their signature dish, the tacos al pastor, and I was immediately impressed. The pork was perfectly seasoned and slow-cooked, giving it that irresistible smoky flavor. Paired with the tangy salsa and fresh cilantro, every bite was a true taste of Puebla.
The restaurant offers a variety of options that cater to different tastes. If you're a fan of classic Mexican street food, you won't want to miss their elotes (grilled corn) or the quesadillas de flor de calabaza (squash blossom quesadillas), which are both crowd favorites. For those who prefer a more filling meal, their tortas ahogadas (drowned sandwiches) are a must-try. The rich, savory sauce drenched over the bread and meat makes for an unforgettable dining experience.
What truly sets Mi Casita Poblana apart, however, is its consistency and attention to detail. I've visited this diner multiple times and the quality of the food never wavers. The service is always friendly and fast, and the vibrant atmosphere makes each visit feel like a celebration of Mexican cuisine. It’s easy to see why locals keep coming back.
The restaurant is also known for its drinks. Their aguas frescas are a refreshing addition to any meal. I particularly recommend the agua de Jamaica, a tangy hibiscus drink that complements the bold flavors of the dishes perfectly. If you’re in the mood for something stronger, their margaritas are always a hit, blending just the right amount of sweetness and citrus.
As a frequent diner here, I've also noticed that Mi Casita Poblana has become a go-to for family gatherings and casual nights out. The cozy interior, with its bright colors and traditional Mexican décor, makes it an inviting place for groups. Plus, the portions are generous, so you’re sure to leave satisfied without breaking the bank. It’s one of those rare spots where you feel at home the moment you walk in.
I’ve seen this diner grow over the years, and it’s clear that the team behind Mi Casita Poblana knows what they’re doing. It’s not just the food; it’s the entire experience. The restaurant offers a slice of Puebla right here in East LA, and it's no wonder that it has garnered such a loyal following. From its delicious menu to its welcoming environment, Mi Casita Poblana continues to be a standout spot for anyone craving a true taste of Mexico.
Whether you're in the mood for a quick bite or a leisurely meal, Mi Casita Poblana offers a dining experience that’s hard to beat. The menu, the flavors, and the friendly service all combine to create a place that feels like a second home. If you're in the area, make sure to stop by. It’s a local gem you won’t want to miss.

Excellent cozy feel-good cooking... Small family owned restaurant ready to put a smile on your face and fill your tummy with good traditional Poblano style dishes. The mole was a treat, the purple corn handmade tortillas are delicious, and the queso is yummy. It will leave you wanting more and craving a comeback visit...
The flor de calabaza and mushroom tacos are delicious! The sopita at the start of your meal and animal cookies with their cafe de olla make you feel at home .
Came here for breakfast this morning and did not disappoint. Bf got the huevos rancheros and he said they had a nice kick to them. I got the huevos con chorizo and both came with arroz y frijoles con tortillas made of blue corn. All the food was absolutely delicious with our favorite being the tortillas. We also got a memela and that was delicious with that red and green sauce This may be are new go to breakfast spot as the quality of the food was amazing
Mi Casita Poblana was such a great little gem to discover in East LA! It was our first visit, but definitely not our last. The staff was super friendly and quick, and we felt genuinely welcomed. The place has a warm, cozy feel, and the menu is packed with amazing dishes inspired by Puebla—which we absolutely loved. The food was delicious—especially the blue corn tortillas—and the salsa was spot on. Everything looked as good as it tasted, and the prices felt totally fair for the quality. My whole family left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. A solid 10/10!
Food was amazing, very authentic. Salsa were full of flavor. Service was also great, the ladies are super humble.
